Here’s a cheery post to kick off your weekend.

When I was just a youngling in middle school, my History teacher showed a video about the Mayans and their uncanny ability to predict the future based on a simple system of calculations derived from calendar tracking. In fact, the Mayans intertwined both mythological beliefs with actual day counts, allowing for a round 260-day-year calendar. The Mayans had several other round calendars which, when woven together, both tracked and predicted Lunar Phases and Seasons.

As part of a newer school of understanding, archaeologists have uncovered the Mesoamerican calendar which predicts a cataclysmic event. The prediction is, in its basest form, an actual date for Armageddon.

The video we saw in middle school was hoaky and a little bit terrifying, too. Here, an informative video also entertains giving the prediction new life:
